Wendy and Austin were high school sweethearts. They're the kind of couple that met and then stuck - the couple that everybody just knew from the beginning would be together for the long haul. So it came as no surprise to me when I heard that Austin had proposed - and totally won himself a spot in the family hall of fame by doing so high above the ground in a hot air balloon. When your girlfriend literally works with lions and tigers at the zoo, you need to up the game a little to surprise her.

As Wendy's cousin, it was the sweetest honor to document this unique wedding celebration. Austin is an elementary school math teacher and Wendy's greatest dream is to work with "big cats." This couple is truly one of a kind. It only made sense that their wedding would be too.

The day was memorable, to say the least. Sunlit skies and 72 degree weather, getting ready in an old stone house filled with elephant memorabilia, walking the sunlit zoo to take photos with the bride and groom, vows beneath a glorious sunset and an intimate audience of family and friends. As Wendy and Austin became husband and wife, we heard exotic trills of birdsong echoing through the dusk. It was the perfect cap to their wild and wonderful ceremony surrounded by all the people - and wildlife - they love most.
